I met my husband on the AZJOURNAL group! He was moving to AZ and wanted to know what the area was like. I answered him, found out that he was moving near to me, we met for coffee, and we've been best friends for 6 years, and married for 2 now! Best series of lucky breaks in my life! There were so many ways we could have missed each other. It must be fate!

I've only seen a few episodes of NCIS, but I have a lot of love for the characters for some reason. :D

Yesterday I stayed up until early in the AM finishing Mr. Darcy's Daughters. It's a fantastic book if you read Pride & Prejudice and are now curious as to what Elizabeth and Darcy's fabulously privileged daughters might be like. The story is full of fun and intrigue and fancy balls and upper class considerations. I enjoyed it thoroughly!

This afternoon I finished Two Guys Read Moby Dick. I enjoyed the commentary by "ordinary" people, but I found their discussions a little shallow considering that both authors are successful writers. They didn't seem to grasp why the book is a classic or why the symbolism is so important. *shrug*

Also: This book is coming out this spring. It's 80% Austen's work, 20% ZOMBIES. OMG YES.

I finished Soul Kitchen and it was a satisfying 3rd part (possibly end) of the Liquor trilogy. I highly recommend the series if anyone is on the fence about starting a series. I usually hate series, but this one was great.

I'm in the middle of reading a LitCrit/Essay book about Moby Dick called Two Guys Read Moby Dick. It's just two guys writing correspondence to each other about the book, musing and critiquing various chapters. It's good fun!

Today I also ran out to buy an Updike book (A Month of Sundays; It sounded great but I couldn't get into it), but ended up getting something else altogether: Mr Darcy's Daughters is essentially a fanfic of Pride & Prejudice. It flows more smoothly to modern readers than Austen does, which is a big plus for me. I love Austen's characters, but her stories can run a little dry. It's a fun read so far.

Also, I'm watching Lie to Me, the new series on FOX with Tim Roth in it. It's really interesting, kind of like House only with consultants who study the science of how and why people lie.
